Get to know us: Lev Prislan, head of business analytics

15/06/2020

How would you describe your job to someone outside the profession?

My job involves coordinating the activities of a large team of highly skilled analysts working in the areas of advanced analytics (words like machine learning and artificial intelligence belong here) and data management (ensuring data accessibility and quality). Put simply, we help internal clients with market, customer and transactional analysis and ensure that the data in the data warehouse and corporate reports is accurate.

Which departments within the company do you work most closely with and how?

BI works with all business areas. Most of our work is in trading and retail, but we also work for GEN-I Sonce and other departments as well as sales to key accounts. We also work extensively with other analytical departments and IT.

Most interesting recent project?

The most interesting recent project was the sales analysis for GEN-I Sonce, where we carried out in-depth analyses of our customers. This will allow us to optimize our sales process and further improve our service.

What do you think are the most important skills for someone in your department and why?

If I had to list the four most important, I would say: understanding customer needs, communication skills, critical thinking, and taking initiative. These skills are the most important to successfully solve any business problem.

What is your biggest challenge at the moment?

At the moment, it’s certainly ensuring quality work from home and managing the many emergency tasks that come with a rapidly changing business environment.
